Get there early Be sure to get to the airport at least two hours before your departure time for domestic U.S. flights and three hours before departure time for international flights. Also, your reservation is subject to cancellation if you are not checked in and at the departure gate at least 15 minutes prior to scheduled departure for domestic flights, 30 minutes for international flights.
No one gets to the airport two hours in advance of a domestic flight, do they?
Enjoy a beverage onboard Your favorite beverages are now for sale in Coach from $2 (cash only). Choose from Coca Cola products, juices, bottled water, freshly-brewed coffee, wine, beer and cocktails.
They're charging for WATER???? Note -- no tea.
Checking baggage If you're traveling within the U.S., check your bags at least 45 minutes before your scheduled departure. If you're traveling internationally, you must check your bags at least 60 minutes before your scheduled departure.
This doesn't mention the $15 for the first checked bag. |

that fee for the 1st checked bag aggravates me- but recently we flew on southwest, which still allows first bag free, and a carry on and personal item free. nonalcoholic beverages were also still free. it's lousy that they're charging for water, let alone $2.
(heh, we do get to the airport that early because we never know how it's going to go at either chicago airport)
*is learning lesson while sitting in airport waiting for rebooked seat almost five hours later*
eek. 5 hours is a LOT of people-watching time. hope the rest of the trip is much more smooth for you.
I actually got some work-like stuff done, freeing me from any sense that i should do anything but read a novel on the plane.
wait, which airline is being that mean?
i hope that the $2 gets you your own 20oz of water, and not those teeny glasses airlines favor.
US Air. One could argue the too few attendants this morning and the chaos at the ticket counters is also indicative of a decline....
I'll be finding out about the water in a four hours or so, now that i'm on another flight. 8(
I try to get to SFO two hours early, but SJC is smaller so it's less important to get there so early. I do this because (a) I walk very slowly and (b) air travel makes me a screaming stress bunny and the less worrying I have to do, the better. I'd rather sit in the waiting area for 90 minutes than worry about the security line.
You're not supposed to bring liquids through security, but I've been told by several people that they've gotten away with bringing empty water bottles and filling them up once they get through.
I have cut back a lot on flying in the past few years.
I usually bring a water bottle, but i still need more than that, particularly on a cross country flight.
Anyhow, two hours would have been good this morning. Lesson learned, since i'm now waiting four hours for my rebooked flight.
*feeling a little stupid*
Ow. :-( But these days, that can happen even if you arrive on time.
I expect that you can ask the flight attendants to fill your water bottle from "tap" water. I doubt they could get away without offering ANY free liquids on a flight.
I try to get there about 1 1/2 - 2 hours before departure, 'cause I'm obsessive. Traveling Southwest next month.
You travel safe. You have my phone numbers right?
Yup, have home & work numbers.
An hour and a half would have been good. I'm spending the morning here in the airport. Three more hours of waiting. I got my car reservation fixed, at least. | |
