Meme as seem in [info]mactavish about username, journal name, icon....

My (LJ) name is _____, because ______.

My LJ name is Elaine Grey because i wanted a name that was me and yet wasn't tied to my legal/professional identity. So, Elaine's my middle name and Grey was a last name that was part of my domain names.

My journal is titled ______ because ______.

"Moving at the Speed of Procrastination." Some random slogan generator created that phrase, and it resonated with some of my frustrations. It's likely it reinforces a negative emotion, and i should change it.

My journal is subtitled _______ because ______.

"There are no stupid questions!" Because in some bit of blogging about blogging and asking friends what they thought, a number of folks said they didn't understand what i write about at times. I wish folks would ask more questions; i'd be happy to explain things -- yet when i am in the fog of the (mis)belief that i am overwhelmed, i surely do not write in such a way that invites easy interrogation.

My friends page is called ______ because ______.
"friends" Probably because that's the default.

My default userpic is ______ because _______.

An image i designed myself, inspire by the Broa design elements in early Scandinavia, particularly the gripping (grypping) beast motif. I drew it specifically as an LJ icon, and it was probably influenced by a pendant i had as a teen that felt self-iconic. That was a very stylized thunderbird profile (but i thought of it as a phoenix) in sterling with a heart shape cut out in the center. The eye element was minimal and merely suggestive in the profile, but there. As a depressed teen, the phoenix+heart caught a sense of hope for me. The design looses that phoenix connotation, translated to the gripping beast, with the far more prominent eye, but seems to carry some interesting interpretations. it's also an interesting play on the number of user icons with photos of individuals' own eyes.

Aaaaah, it's another name for Oseberg :-) I wondered why it wasn't ringing any bells. I had a fast intro to Norwegian art styles. I'd seen the gripping beast aspect of your icon from the start but not realized you drew it yourself. Well done.

Thank you!

You don't know how reassuring it is to know you saw that relationship.

I haven't had any real art introduction. I'd picked up a design elements book ages ago and extrapolated -- but i love the bundled up grypping beasts and how that element seems to evolve into even more complicated sinuous intertwining beasts.
